During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference, outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte emphasized that the Netherlands

will maintain its support for Ukraine, regardless of any changes in government. Similarly, US Vice President Kamala Harris stressed that support for Ukraine from the United States should not be subject to "political games," referring to Republican opposition to a new financial aid package.

Prime Minister Rutte affirmed that aid to Ukraine will continue even in the event of a change in government. He clarified to the media that his stance was firm because "a cabinet cannot be formed without the VVD (his party, ed.). It seems very difficult." While the radical right-wing PVV, the big winner of the recent elections, opposes military and financial aid to Kiev, it stands virtually alone in the Dutch parliament. Just this week, a broad parliamentary majority passed a motion to maintain long-term support for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Vice President Harris underscored the importance of continued US support for Ukraine, despite "political games" within the country. Her remarks addressed Republican opposition in the US Congress, which is currently blocking a $60 billion (over €55 billion) aid package to Kyiv.

"We should not be playing political games. Partisan politics has no place in what is at stake," Harris stated in Munich alongside President Zelensky. Zelensky described US aid as "vital," while Harris affirmed that the United States will stand by Ukraine for as long as necessary. "History has taught us what happens when you let aggressors like Putin steal land with impunity," she added. "They will continue to do so."
