On March 7, at dusk, the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, the Principality’s most iconic monument, was illuminated in blue to pay tribute to police officers who lost their lives in the line
of duty.
At the initiative of Interpol, member countries around the world participate in this tribute by lighting up police stations, precincts, and iconic monuments, celebrating the dedication and courage of law enforcement in ensuring public and global safety.
From one time zone to another, blue became the color of remembrance and unity—a powerful symbol to remind us that behind every uniform are men and women ready to serve, sometimes at the ultimate risk to their lives.
This global day, called “Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers,” is celebrated annually to honor officers who died in service and to highlight their unwavering commitment. Interpol also shares images and testimonies from around the world, illustrating the human side of policing and the importance of protecting citizens.
Monaco, faithful to its history and committed on the international stage, fully participates in this initiative. As early as 1914, under the guidance of Albert I of Monaco, the Principality laid the foundations of international police cooperation with the first International Criminal Police Congress. Today, Monaco continues this commitment alongside the 195 member countries of Interpol, confirming its active role in supporting law enforcement worldwide.
