On 13 and 14 June, around 8,500 young people aged 16 to 30 from across the globe will gather at the European Parliament in Strasbourg for the European Youth Event 2025
(EYE2025). The two-day event will feature more than 450 activities designed to engage participants in shaping the future of Europe.
A festival of democracy and youth participation
EYE2025 will kick off on Friday, 13 June at 10:00 in the EYE Village, with an opening address by European Parliament Vice-President Sabine Verheyen (EPP, Germany). Vice-President Nicolae Ştefănuță (Greens/EFA, Romania) will participate in a key session on the EU’s next long-term budget on Saturday at 15:00, followed by the closing session with Vice-President Pina Picierno (S&D, Italy) at 16:45.
Throughout the event, attendees will take part in debates and discussions alongside Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), EU officials, activists, experts, and digital creators. Topics include climate justice, future skills, media freedom, migration, housing, and more.
High-profile speakers and engaging sessions
Notable speakers include:
- Glenn Micallef, EU Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport, who will host a Youth Policy Dialogue on Friday at 11:00 and join a panel on mental health later that day.
- Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the Commission, who will explore how technology can support democracy, in a session at 15:00 on Friday.
- Daria Navalnya, democracy activist
- Chief Tau Metuktire, Kayapo tribal leader from the Amazon
- Jeanne Barseghian, Mayor of Strasbourg
A special press briefing on media freedom in the EU will be held on Friday, 13 June at 16:30.
Beyond debates: art, workshops, and culture
In addition to political discussions, EYE2025 will offer a rich cultural and educational programme. Activities include:
- Workshops on disinformation, migration, and housing
- Storytelling sessions
- Quizzes and guided tours
- Artistic performances and concerts
All sessions held in the European Parliament’s hemicycle will be livestreamed via the EYE2025 Facebook page and the Parliament’s Multimedia Centre.
